Yoana Sandinska – winner of Digiral Earth video competition

Eng. Yoana Sandinska, former student at UACEG, specialization on Cartography, and currently a PhD student at NIGGG, BAS, won the video competition for young scientists “Digital Transformation – Our Future”, organized for the second time by International Society for Digital Earth.
The award for Yoana was the opportunity to participate in the International Symposium on Digital Earth, hosted in Sydney, Australia, 3-6 April, 2017, where the video clip was presented, and the author gave a short speech about the history of its creation.

“3D maps – new field of modern cartography”

tbrOn January 11th, 2017, at the University of Vienna, the President of BCA prof. Temenujka Bandrova will give a lecture entitled: “3D cards – a new field of modern cartography”. The Seminar aims to present and open discussion on one of the new cartographic fields – 3D maps. Users of these cartographic products will be presented. Definition of 3D map will be done, as well a difference between 3D maps and models will be pointed. More information here.

“Bulgarian cartography in the International Map Year” – Exhibition in National Assembly

ns-izlojba-copyVice-chairman of the National Assembly Dimitar Glavchev, chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy and Tourism Petar Kanev and President of the Bulgarian Cartographic Association (BCA) Temenoujka Bandrova opened an exhibition “Bulgarian mapping in the International Year of the map” in the National Assembly building.

The President of the BCA Temenoujka Bandrova awarded with a special diploma Mr. Petar Kanev, for his contribution to the development of Bulgarian cartography, on the occasion of the International Map Year 2015 -2016.

The collection of exhibits contain cartographic works of old maps, military topographic maps, thematic, tourist, educational maps and atlases, panoramic maps made based on 3D models and navigation cartographic products.

Participants in the exhibition: corporate members of the Bulgarian Cartographic Association – DataMap-Europe, Cartographic Studio DavGEO, KartGeo, KartProekt, International Commercial and Cultural Centre GEOPAN, HERE Europe – Bulgaria, Military Geographic Service and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
